UKULELE

  • Kids 4+ and Adults

The Hawaiian native ukulele is the perfect first instrument for your little one! With only 4 strings and small size, it's the best pick for young children just beginning their musical journey. The ukulele is much simpler to play and understand. Once the basics are mastered it is an easy transition to guitar or bass. Ukulele lessons will introduce basic music theory, memorization of chords, songs, along with music reading skills. Ukulele is just guitar's smaller, easier to play (and more fun!) cousin, making it the perfect choice for your Little Treblemaker!

PIANO

  • Kids 4+ and Adults

Piano is a wonderful precursor to all other instruments and provides a solid musical foundation for any child. Students as young as 4 years old can begin exploring on piano with ease. These lessons provide an early understanding of note names and values, learning how to read music on the grand staff, and confidently playing fun songs.

The children will be introduced to beginning music theory through songs, games, rhythm sticks, shakers, and other percussive instruments for hands-on exploration fun! We will also evaluate when each child may be ready to progress to ukulele or piano by slowly introducing them to the instrument in time.

During lessons students will learn to read tablature while playing from start to finish using chords, single note melodies, and basic rhythms. Lessons will be tailored to the experience of the student and their desired skill level to make sure they are moving forward.

A NOTE FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS: This instrument is bigger in size and requires more hand-eye coordination and finger strength. For students under 7 we suggest starting with Ukulele or drums to start building coordination.

DRUMS

  • Kids 6+ and Adults

This instrument provides fundamentals in percussive theory & expression. Students will develop limb independence, rudiment understanding, internal timing, & ability to jam to their favorite song with their instructor (or other students in the program). We recommend either electronic (quieter at-home option) or live drum kit to get the learning going!
